if you are asking can a judge be sued for an action they took when in official business versus an action a judge took when not in official business?

yes but a very hard legal burden to even get standing to sue, the judges act must be so egregious beyond the discretion they are allowed in the court room

In a civil matters NOT related to his judicial office, a judge can be sued just like anyone else. For example, if a judge runs you over with his car, you can sue him for personal injury.

With respect to their official acts, judges are immune from civil liability except in cases where a patent abuse of judicial power can be demonstrated. You can't sue the judge merely because you disagree with how he applied the law. Even if an appellate court reverses the judge and holds that his decision was wrong, you STILL cannot sue him. The immunity of all judicial acts short of actual corruption is the cornerstone of judicial independence in this country. Take that away, and you might as well eliminate judges altogether -- just install an absolute monarch or let people fight "it" out with baseball bats.

judges are members of the aba... the american bar association. just as lawyers can get disbarred for unethical practices, so can judges. usually it's for people who take bribes to swing a "judgement" in favor of those who pay them to decide a certain way, or even to overrule or sustain an objection during a trial. my father's a lawyer, and i grew up with alot of what he told me for 18 years. or just read any john grisham book.
