Hi welcome,
I discussed sex with all my kids when they turned 11 years. I am thinking it was just after 5th grade. Sooner than better before the school starts in, from friends, way before they start experimenting on their own. In turn I learned from friends & books . Have a good day. :0)
Additional Details: my grown kids-2 man, 2 woman-36 yrs., 35 yrs.,
25 yrs., 21. yrs. Now grandkids & stepgrandkids range from newborn-16 yrs. 6 so far. My 8 year granddaughter already knows about all about sex but of course in this day & age they gotta know ( strangers, pedophiles, sex perverts etc) That song- The Birds and the Bees the Flowers and the trees (lol).

You should begin telling your child about not being touched in dertin places at the earliest of ages, so that they can recognize when they are being molested! The earlier the education the better! & It needs to come from the parents! Not the school system!

No need to talk about it. They will figure it out on there own. Just let them know if they ever have any questions about anything to come to you. If you need a specific age 13 or when they start puberty

Kids are pretty sophisticated these days and I don't think you will have to *discuss it* - their friends will inform them. But if you would prefer to tell them on your own, in your own fashion, I'd go from 7-10.

Please read the information on the site I have listed, It is written by a Ph.D and is very age appropriate information.

There are many very good subjects listed in the front page of this site. It may be good to look at them as well.

Realistically, I'd have to say about 10 years old. this being as at this age kids start looking and talking about these things. NOT that I condone it, BUT an educated kid is less likely to get into trouble.

I learned all about it in the sixth grade. A year later my dad said "I'm going to teach you about the birds and the bees. Sit down. Keep your stinger in your pants and you won't have to worry about any eggs hatching. Now go outside and play!"
Honest to God true story!

I think that it should be a kinda ongoing conversation that you build on the details. I would say a true, out and out, sex talk when they are about nine or ten. Before that it would be a little much and if you wait much later, they are hearing it from their friends.

When they start asking questions. Answer simply and honestly. No need to give more info than what is asked about though.
