I still think in terms of "Merry Christmas" -- however, there are the Politically Correct people who want it to change to "Happy Holidays". (I'm an Empty-Nesting Single Retiree (and American Military Retiree too) -- so have been saying "Merry Christmas" for many, many years!)

If someone says "Happy Holidays" to me, my response to them is "Merry Christmas". Christmas is the holiday being celebrated by nearly all of the world, and that's the greeting I choose.

I say 'Merry Christmas', it's what I was taught, and that's what I'm going to say. If someone gets insulted, I'm sorry, but I'm not changing my beliefs for you.
