Humidity is an element of weather. It means that it is also responsible for the everyday weather we experience. Thus moisture in the atmosphere plays an important role in meterorology. This is expalined in detail below.
Humidity is responsible (1) for the formation of clouds and precipitation elements,(2)in controling the long-wave radiation balance of the atmosphere as water vapour is a powerful absorber of terrestial(long-wave) radiation,(3)in determining the atmospheric stability, and (4)in affecting the heat balance conditions of the earth-atmospheric system by the powerful absorption of heat in the course of evaporation and sublimation from liquid water and ice and by the eventual release of the stored latent heat which is involved in the reverse process.Further it moderates the climate of a place.
Winds and weather affect mutually each other.Formation of low and high pressure induces the winds to blow from high pressure low pressure.Differential heating of the Northern Hemisphere(where land mass is more) and the Southern Hemisphere(where sea area is more) during summer induces the monsoon winds(for example,south-west monsoon in India) which decides the climate of a place. In India, the south-west monsoon brings lot of rain during the period June to September regularly every year.Similarly , coastal stations enjoy more equable conditions of weather due to sea- breeze .Jet streams in the upper levels sometimes decides the path of hurricanes and cyclones. In turn, the temperature distribution in the lower atmosphere is responsible for the day to day variation in the wind speed and direction of the winds.
