i say the miami dolphins have to redo their entire defense before they can become a winning team again because they are all old and their offense is adequate enough to get by

A total rebuild. It is not totally impossable they can make a playoff push next year. It seems each year now one of the bottom teams transforms. The 2006 Saints and the 2007 Browns show you what can be accomplished.
It is all but assured they will have the No.1 pick in the NFL draft. If so they will have McFadden next year that will fix the running game. If you look at the tendancies in the NFL you now need a dual punch running game. McFadden and Brown give Miami this type of attack.
QB is settled. Beck is the future. He showed enough that he can be a field general. With this rushing attack his duty will be to control the game like Roethlisberger in Pittsburgh. He doesn't have to win the game as long as he doesn't lose the game.
The major rebuild needs to start from the O-line. They don't protect the QB or make holes for the backs. If you look at the teams that have gone fron the bottom to the top in one season you notice their protection increased greatly. A nice area to be able to build from free agency as a few good lineman are coming out of contract.
On defense the front 7 need updating. They have been run over all year. They need to get younger, faster and stronger. Once a strength it is now the second major fix for next year.
The secondary has been the best part of the team for most of the year.
The organisation has to look at what has worked elsewhere. It is vital for a turnaround occurs especially on both lines. If you look at the success of the NFL you need to win the battle at the trenches. If they do this the playoffs can happen next year.

Give Helen Keller a 3 year deal and if she can not fix it ship the whole orginization to Toronto .
No they need to get younger , draft better players ,
ever since Marino left they been trying to replace him
and his numbers .
When you have a Franchise QB like Marino its tough to replace he was there leader , he could win the game for them if they were losing he could carry the team to bring them back
The same thing happened in Dallas when Aikman left how many QB's did they go thru before finding 1 to carry the team
You are seeing it in Denver
It will happen in Green Bay , New England , Indy ,
When your QB is the heart and soul of your team and you lose that your whole team all of a sudden turns bad ,
The teams that are good have QB's that are leaders
The teams that are bad are still trying to find there leader

At this point of the game, I would want to go winless and get first round draft picks!!
However, they will have home field advantage against the Jets! Remember last time they met they only lost by three points and the Jets had home field advantage.
Then there is the game against the Pat's. They are going to fight tooth and nail so they can upset the Pat's from having a perfect season!!!

Dan Marino coming out of retirement and Ricky Williams going into retirement!! Or just trade your whole team and a lot of cash for the New England Patriots.

I would like to state that I could do a better job coaching a number of college and NFL teams than their present coaches and that includes Miami.

just time and doing what every pro deal does normally
what no one really mentions is that pro sports are just cycles and everyone goes done and everyone goes up
the dolphins are in a valley after losing marino
just like the niners are in one after losing young and rice
theyll come out of it because of new draft picks or trades or new coaching its just a matter of time

They're about 3 players away from being a winning team...those three players are Joe Montana, Jim Brown and Jerry Rice.
