There is no need to deliberately insult another person's religion in this way, but many reasonable persons would agree that calling a teddy bear in that context is not meant to be insulting. Many British muslims have expressed their dismay that the Sudanese religious authorities have taken umbrage in a way that has reflected very badly on their faith. It has made them look very ridiculous and more or less confirmed what many have seen as the dark side of Islam - the flogging of women, amputations, the violent reactions at even innocuous remarks about Islam, etc. - all these point to some very medieval and belligerent ideas haboured by a very backward people. But it's their country and we have to let them be. What we cannot have is for them to come to our country and try and impose such values on our society. Why should we have them marching through our streets protesting at our system of free speech as they did in Denmark? So, if you do call your pet toad, dog, porker, etc., that name in the UK, no one can stop you because it's a free country.

I would agree 100% with Zanahori and would add that the vast majority of not only muslims but ALL other faiths are peace loving people who want to live their life in peace and harmony with everyone else. It's the FANATICS in EVERY faith who fuel the problems which are prevelent today and it is through this that ordinary people get pulled into the farce called religion

If I was a muslim or became one, then I might call any offspring Mohammed. Otherwise I think its a rubbish name and wouldn't give it to anyone or thing.

Asif is the best Muslim name if you ask me.

Maybe he is human just like mosy of us but we must respect that our Muslim counterparts regarded him as a Prophet. Respect be gets respect guys. Lack of respect in this world resulted to chaos. Peace!
