Right now, you have this equation
5/4 = x/10
(5 times every 4 seconds, x times every 10 seconds)
Next, cross multiply (criss cross)
4x=50
Divide:
x=50/4 or 12.5 times

The clock chimes 5 times in 4 s. It means it chimes for 5/4 times every second.
Hence in 10 seconds it will chime for (10 x 5 ) divided by 4 = 50/4 = (12 + 1/2) times.
But as it cannot chime for 1/2 times, hence the answer = 12 times.

12 an 1/2 times (I hope I'm right) because if it chimes 5 times in 4 seconds multiply that by 2 (8 seconds) 10 chimes then it would be something like 2 1/2 half chimes in a 2 second period 2 reach 10 seconds an 12 and 1/2 chimes.

I would say the time is 5 seconds before 5 o'clock and the clock will not chime more than 5 times in 10 seconds. But in 1 hour and 5 seconds it will chime 6 times.

12, many people have said 12.5 but you can't have half a chime, so there will be 12 chimes in 10 seconds.
