No, that’s not true at all.
The company Top Fly flies only from Gran Canaria to Agadir, Daklah, El Aaiun and Marrakech.

Then there is the Canarian Company called Binter Canarias and this company flies every Thursday and Sunday from Lanzarote (and Gran Canaria as well) to Morocco and every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday to el Aaiun.
Check in: www.binternet.com
You can book on-line by Internet
Royal Air Maroc only flies from Gran Canaria to several Moroccan airports as well: www.royalairmaroc.com
It depends where you want to go, you have a better choice from Gran Canaria.
Maybe you get a domestic flight from Lanzarote to Gran Canaria and then to Morroco or you fly with Binter from Lanzarote to Marrakech or El Aaiun.
Have a nice trip, I love Morocco, have been there plenty of times.

There are flights from Lanzarote to Morocco - Laayoune. There are also flights from Gran Canaria, these are more regular and go to more cities in Morocco.
It really depends where in Morocco you want to go.
If you want to go North Morocco its probably better to get the flight Lanzarote to Gran Canaria to Morocco.
However you can get a bus from Laayoune to Agadir or Marrakech. It's only about 20euro, its overnight and a long journey but worth it.
Depends what you want to do, how much time you have etc....
If you need more info let me know.
