Heavy bleeding on it's own can cause you to lose iron and make you anemic (weak and tired). Some of the causes of heavy bleeding are not very serious and despite the inconvenience of period management do not require treatment.

Others are more serious and warrant treatment to preserve your health. Very rarely, VERY heavy bleeding is a medical emergency.

If you are experiencing heavy bleeding and are concerned, I would recommend you consult with your doctor/gynaecologist or go to an emergency room right away.

Keeping a diary of your periods, including the number of pad or tampon changes and occurrences of gushes can be very helpful for your doctor in diagnosing your individual problem.

Good luck :)

Size doesn't matter, I think it's just everybody is different. I'm skinny as fck, I'm only 100 pounds and I'm 15 and 5"5 which is underweight and I'm a skinny little athletic twig lol and my period is heavy, I think it's all in what you eat or something, sometimes your period can be light sometimes it can be heavy it depends on the excercise you do that month, and what you eat, etc

Heavy periods can be normal. But if you feel that they are so heavy that they interfere with your life and your going through more than 6 or 7 pads u should really talk to your doctor!!!! Good Luck!!!

I had a friend who had such heavy periods she was continually dangerously anaemic and had to have monthly blood transfusions, she eventually had to have a hysterectomy at 30.

Hi,
i used to have really heavy periods, but since having my children they are a lot lighter.
If you are worried it might be best if you talk to your doctor or nurse, just to put your mind at ease.

no, i dont think so. but is is important that we eat healthy food.

as long as the blood that comes out does not comes out in big blots dark jellyiesh thing pouring down (like the one that people get in miscarriage). if things like that happen, better go to the hospital and seek some professional advice.

i usually have mild cramp nd my face turn pale. but i make sure i drink lotsa water and healthy food.
