I have done so, but only because there was no one who answered the question so I picked the one I liked.
Also - sometimes in P&S there isn't really an answer.

I have asked only one question and got only one answer. I gave the guy best answer-NOT-because he was the only one. The reason? His answer had me in a fit of giggles. If I could have seen him in person, I would have hugged him. He was so hilarious. He made my day even though he didn't have an answer for me. I later found out, I used the wrong name for the person. But, to answer your question properly, NO! I would only give best answer to who, from my point of view, had the best answer. Great question!!

I've done it once or twice with this one person who kinda sucked up to me... I guess I'm a bit of a pushover in that sense.

But usually, I don't care if someone tells me to give them best answer.

In a way, it's tacky and a waste of space to say that - people should realize that they're not going to redeem their points for groceries at Kroger's or anything.

Heck no, that's called soliciting and is a reportable violation. If I ask a question I am looking for the best answer and who gives it is irrelevant to me.

The best answer goes to the best answer....and if it includes some self-promotion, oh well.

No. That's like the annoying kid in high school who asked to be voted for for homecoming king.

asking to be chosen as best answer pretty much guarantees not getting best answer.
