Depends on how much you are willing to spend, among many other things. For a very sturdy good quality notebook may I recommend Lenovo (lenovo.com). For the thinnest and lightest HD display capable notebook, I would say dell.com, xps model. For something with more features such as touch screen pen capable, also very lightweight and small, gateway has some excellent leptops, but their support is lacking. Choose wisely my friend!

for 1300$, you can get a good laptop, but make sure it has :

2 Ghz Centrino core 2 (T7250,T7300, & up)
2 GB Ram
At least 160GB HD
Ge-Force 8400 & up

It doesn't really matter what brand you are getting -as you can see most of the opinions are very different.

I would reccomend thought, to get a well known brand (Sony,Hp, Dell, Toshiba, acer, asus).

With your budjet, you can get all I mentioned.

Good Luck!

hi

if u want to buy a n/b then go for Hp notebooks - there is a very good model Compaq Presario C700T, this is for everyday computing use. this n/b comes with a one yr warranty which can be further extended. 24*7 customer support. the link below will give you further details of the same
http://tinyurl.com/2tqxae. would cost you $449.99 + taxes, which might come up to say around $500 if u customise the model, call hp at 18004746836 or order it at the link above. if u want further explore more models logon to shopping.hp.com

I think Dell is the best. I have a Dell laptop and PC. They're both outstanding.

whatever you do... don't get a dell. my hp is a jillion times better than my dell ever was. mine is sort of big though cause i got the media center edition that has the bigger screen, but it still weighs less than my dell. i hear the viaos are reliable too.

Dell would be a good purchase, don`t buy MSI or Fujitsu Siemens.
