We have flea bombed our house and gave the cat a flea bath and he has a flea collar, but the results from the bath and the flea bombing did not last that long and the flea collar does not seem to work. The cat likes to run outside when we open the door and when we let him back in he has brought in his friends the fleas. The fleas get in the carpet and on my clothes and in my bed. I don't see the fleas but rarely, and I can't ever find them in my bed because my bedding is black. I've heard that citrus scents work to repel fleas but found that is not always the case, or it only repels them somewhat rather. Does anybody know a way to keep these blasted fleas from eating me other than getting rid of my cat or buying expensive flea treatments like Advantix?

Oh, and I have not already spent a lot of money on flea products. Foggers and flea collars are not that expensive. It's important that it not be expensive because I am a full time student with no job and thus I don't have the money to spent $45 a month on flea treatments. Oh, and don't tell me to get a job and get frontline or something, since the question specifically says I don't want that kind of product. I've heard there is an imitation frontline at Walmart, but i am yet to see it.

Use a fogger - they are about 8.00 from Walgreens for 3 of them. They keep you out of the house for only 2 hours and they work well.

Well look at it this way. You've already spent a bunch of money on treatments that were never going to work. Are you going to keep on like this until you're broke, or are you going to just go and get some proper flea treatment from a vets?

The fact of the matter is, NO flea treatment available in stores works, as you're discovering. Stores are not licensed to sell the proper drugs for safe and effective flea control.

No, citrus scents do not repel fleas, that would be one of the many old wives tales you'll find floating around on here. Fact of the matter is veterinary treatments like Frontline, Advantage, Revolution and Advocate are the only things that actually work properly, so stop wasting time and money and go and get some.

A highly effective, safe and cheap method of getting rid of fleas is to use a mixture of boric acid and salt. The powder should be sprayed on carpets, bedding and areas frequented by your pet.

Yeah I think that it is only like 1 dollar a pound to have your pet put to sleep, check into it, I don't have any fleas because my dog died years ago.
