Amazon.com said this about my book:

Shipping estimate: November 30, 2007 - December 3, 2007

Are those the dates between which my book will probably arrive, or the dates between which my book will probable be shipped out?

I order many books from Amazon through their various book dealers and mostly the example you gave is an estimate as to when it will be shipped which is what it says. Some will tell you the approximate dates (between one and 2 weeks, or specific dates) when you can expect it. They also give you a site to track where it is at if you feel it is taking too long to get to you.

With the holiday shipping, and mail volume, it may take longer this time of year but I have always been pleased with their service. Just be patient. Fretting won't get it there any sooner.

Amazon.com doesn't monitor the postage exchanges the mail services use, but they do tell you when it has been shipped out.. They give you a Package number the mail service uses.. in other words, if Amazon sent the package via fedex/UPS you can take your Package number that Amazon has gave you, and check which ever courier service they used by using the tracking/shipping number.. All you would need is to know which courier service amazon.com used to ship the package and use the package shipping/tracking number for the courier service to tell you when its arrival date is expected...
when you take the tracking/shipping number for your package all you would need to do is go to the courier service website, look for the "Tracking" link, and it will ask for the package number.. which once you inserted the number, it should tell you when and how long it will take to arive..
