I am a senior with a major in communication disorders. When I was 17 I was charged with a misdemeanor theft case. I am now 26 and have gotten my record sealed ( I have not gotten into any trouble ever since). I would like to apply to the graduate program but, don't know if this will cause problems when doing externships etc. I want to continue my education but, it seems like this has been haunting me for years. Even if I don't get accepted could you tell me if I am wasting my time in even trying to apply to graduate schools?

The externships and such require criminal checks most are done that even if my record is sealed a charge would still apear. (the field I am interested in is working in schools, or nursing homes, clinics, etc.)

I think it a great idea trying to educate and evolute yourself; I think that will not be any problem if you'll not wrong again.
Good luck to you.

If you were trying to better yourself how could you say that you were wasting your time. I think it a great idea and things like that happen all the time so there wouldn't be many problems.

If sealed, you should have 0 problems. If it weren't, you shouldn't have problems getting into grad school, but if you picked the wrong topic, you might not be able to get a job afterward.
