I heard a bit about this new book called the Shock Doctrine, and the author I believe is Naomi Klein. It explains it all very well. It basically will show you that all the bad stuff you see going on with our economy is really planned, and that there are people who stand to profit greatly from when america goes totally down the toilet, and they are waiting in the wings ready to seize the moment. Hint: Hitler rose to power because of the bankrupt germany and the need for a fatherly figure to save them.

gengi, the people waiting in the wings actually do want you to be very afraid of terrorism as well, but they are also the very same ones who have advocated the policies that have brought us to the brink. See the drift???

mike, the fatherly figure does not have to be one person, it could be a party, it could an ideology, but it will definitely be an opportunity for them to unleash essentially greater versions of the same policies that got us into this mess. They will say to solve the problem that we literally have to do more of the same stuff that created them. They wont say it like that, but that will be the essence.

ez F,

I'm sorry if I get a bit off topic, but I think I have a fair and objective view of why things have gone so badly. I am entirely independent with no love or hatred for the president, but I do credit him for much of our problems. Equally as culpable is congress and the American people themselves.

1) The American dollar has suffered so tremendously on the international market because our government has allowed its value to slide here at home. Incredibly ridiculous fuel prices account for a large part of the dollar's failure, as does the massive increase in prices in everything from milk to lumber. I blame the president and congress for not attacking these issues when they first began, and I blame the upper classes of society for not joining the lower class outrage over increasing prices when things began to get out of control years ago.

2) As for the fuel prices, they have become outrageous because the president and congress are in the pockets of the oil companies and there lobbyists. If you look at the trend of OPEC pricing you will see that fuel prices doubled long before OPEC ever raised the price of a barrel of oil notably. The oil companies have been gouging the consumer without anything more than an occasional expression of interest from a few politicians.

3) Home foreclosure rates are at an all-time high because congress has failed to protect the American consumer. Also, many homeowners have failed to save money, but rather shelled out hundreds, and even thousands of dollars on IPods and XBox video games without having a nest egg.

4) Outsourcing has become a major problem over the past decade. Millions of Americans have lost there jobs to this vile act of greed. Again, congress and the president have done nothing other than endorse such filthy business practices.

5) The incredible trade deficit has not only cost American jobs, but also cost us our dignity. While I am furious at the president and congress for there passive attitude on this issue, I am equally upset with the American people for turning our homes into Made In China wrappers.

In the long run, I highly doubt that anyone will benefit from Americas woes. The domino effect will begin soon if America doesn't wake up and demand a government that works.

don't believe it, its all crazy conspiracy theories just like those crazy people who think 911 was planned (which is a complete non-sense since numerous studies and well-educated scientists have studied and concluded it was not planned).

In regards to Germany, the economy was already wrecked long before Hitler came to power, it was hurting due to the bad conditions in the treaty they had to sign at the end of WW1 forced upon them by the Allies. Hilton simply seized the opportunity but he is no way planned the actual failing of the economy itself.

There are a lot of conspiracy theories out there. The truth is that they are just theories. We've got AGW (Anthropological Global Warning) theory being propagated by Al Gore.

And we've got the "Bush bombed the twin towers" theory being sold by Rosie O'Donnell, but so far there has been no evidence to support either of these theories.

And we've also got the "America's economy is in big trouble" theory being propagated by who knows who... The truth is all this propaganda is being spread by people that hate G.W. Bush. They hate Bush so much they're spreading a rumor that says we've already lost the war in Iraq.

Ya that sounds about right. I think that the Democrats have a big hand in this, because they are working full time to try to divide this nation., "The media is another one that we have to get rid of. I think that we need a reveloution in this Country and we need to get rid of these elected officals, like, Nancy Pelosi, Ted Kennedy, Hillary Clinton, and every other Democrat They are destroying this country. Nancy Pelosi is removing the phrase "In God we Trust" from all of our US saving bonds with out any one elses permission. This chick just went in and did it on her own when 87 % of the Americans want it on the money and bonds. Who do they think they are when they no longer do the will of the people? The Democrats are also heavy into the Mob and they both support each other. Like I said, we need a revolution and we need to get rid of these full time elected officals. They are all crooks.

revolutions are caused by disgruntled peoples en-mass, even though they be incited by political activists. there is only so much any class of dissidents can tolerate, so the job of politicians is to maintain a tolerable balance in society. the 9/11 out rage was one such potential revolution, handled i believe successfully. the alternative was mass slaughter of none Christians. Hitler, if you recall called for the evacuation of all none Christians, blacks, Gypsies and non Aryan peoples from Germany because they were blamed for the country's economical decline, which later escalated to the mass slaughter of Jews. the US has shown the world that they do not lower their standards in order to fight the anti-establishment mongers.

nobody would willingly destroy America, they will only profit from it at the expense of the common men. its funny that you think America needs a economic downturn to get a new "Hitler" into power but the fear of terrorism is working well enough. add into that the verminnisation of immigrants and you will soon have another racial cleansing.

and just who do you think is going to rise here and fill that "fatherly" role? Do you have a plan ? Does it include building Autobahns and re-designing the Volkswagen?

The good news is, if we only thought for ourselves, they couldn't hurt us no matter what they do.

The bad news, well, there's the bad news too.
