Are you a helpful person, or you are the kind of only care about yourself?

At one point, I was TOO helpful, always putting others before myself. I realized one day that the reason I had so little was because I was giving everything away. I spent money on groceries for friends in need, then I had nothing to eat myself... I just opted to quit hanging out with people all together, because everyone I knew seemed to be in need more than I was (which was how I saw it and not necessarily true). So I'm a giving person, but I try to avoid it at all costs (literally).

Actually, I'm trying to transition from a self-centered person into a helpful and giving person.

It's actually not easy. Maybe someday, I will be selfless.

i'm trying to change myself from a very helpful person to in between too helpful and teach the needy how to fish so they can feed for a lifetime without depending on other people such as me. i'd like to be those people who can say no without feeling bad.

I think you're going to find that the type of people who look for questions to answer here are going to primarily be the type who are helpful or at least try to be. Your results will be very skewed.
