It's just really annoying.
I wish most people in this section actually cared about the subject.

I guess my problem is that everytime I walk through a solution with an individual instead of just handing them the answer, the person that hands the answer over gets the "best answer"

Hey Archimedes. Just 'giving the answer' is not helping people - it is doing their homework for them. However, if the answerer EDUCATES by explaining a concept, process, etc. that helps the asker understand how to get the right answer, then a productive interaction has taken place.
Many answerers on this site work to teach concepts and principles when giving answers. That is a good thing.
Best wishes.

I think its important that people had the guts to ask the question in the first place. I love chemistry and I love answering questions about chemistry (I mean, I'm an organic chemistry teacher).
The only problem with the internet is that you don't know if the person is just lazy or if they just need help. So, I try to help whoever I can. I mean, as far as organic chemistry goes, that is a tough subject, but if it is something like balancing an equation, I won't answer those questions.

I have helped others and asked for help in this section, but I do not demand anyone to do my homework. I always ask for an explanation and an example, but I reiterate that the setup is more crucial than the answer. I love learning, Chemistry and Math are my favorite subjects! I want to have a career regarding the subjects. I homeschool and I am the oldest living at home. Sometimes when I need help I can't ask my other younger siblings and my parents don't have a clue either, so I am thankful for Y!A, but I would never want to take advantage of it's users. Sorry for the long explanation, I just wanted to be clear. But don't get me wrong, I have seen my fair share of lazy, snobby kids, who wont do their own homework, I am not one of them. Have a good night.

I don't like "doing" other people's homework, but I DO like helping.
Most of the time people are just looking for a method to SOLVE the problem, not necessarily answers. And this site is great for that!!! In fact, I've gotten more help from this site than I have from my own professors!
Sometimes total strangers can be very nice :-)
------------
Edit...
They may not have had it as easy as you have... everyone is ignorant, just in different subjects... so you shouldn't criticize.
-------------
Edit...
Yes, people who do that show that they are more interested in the answers than learning the material... those people ruin it for everyone!

How can they ever learn,if they are not doing any work.I believe you are trying. To solicit clientele with advertisement of your business of doing O.P.H.((other people's homework)).That way you can advertise your business at no out of pocket expense. You are still at company level ,you haven't been in business long enough to start a corporation.

Not cool at all. They should do their own homework so that they can retain the information.
