Thanks all for your comments, thats what I wanted to hear, also heard from my father in law , that his buddies have gained alot of weight when they got married too, so it sounds pretty common, back when I was young and single I use to lift weights alot, I want to exercise now, but between smoking and stress I have a massive lack of energy I get tired real easy when I exercise, so as of tomorrow, I am quiting smoking, and start getting back in shape I miss my old self, thank you all for the advise.

Normal if she's cooking you up mega carbs and you're not exercising.

It is normal - You are just comfortable with your life. When my husband I got married - it was all about big dinners and big breakfast on the weekends - just happy to be together. But after awhile we could see that we were putting on some weight. It changed since I now work a different shift than him so we rarely get to eat together.

Just be more conscious of it and make sure to work out - even if only for a few mins a day.

What's normal is that men tend to gain weight as they age. A 55 pound weight gain is not very healthy, even if it is over a long period of time. At 5' 7" you're BMI (measure of lean + fat) is going to be too high and that's just not healthy for you. That kind of weight gain can increase your risk for Type II Diabetes, high cholesterol, and early heart attack.

Ask yourself this: Are you comfortable with your weight and appearance right now?

Take care.

married 11 years 41yo 5'10" 220lbs. I know I need to loose weight cause I know I will feel better. Also my back always gets hurt more when I am heavier. You just get laid back cause your married I think and there is no need to impress the ladies anymore.I am an emotional type eater and stress in many areas causes me to eat. Funny thing is to know it but somehow not be able to control it.I can actually be talking to myself saying that I know I should not eat what I am about to eat, BUT I do it anyways. I hate that part of me.

honey, I have been trying to get my hubbie to work off that "after the wedding" weight ever since I noticed him gaining weight but the fact is, women gain it too. between getting married and having kids, we girls aren't always the best at keeping weight off. The good thing about it is, if you've met the right person, they love you for who you are and not what you look like. So, unless the extra baggage affects your health in some way, love you for you and she will too. That's the beauty in finded the one you love!

I don't know if its normal, but I know my husband had the same problem. He's 6'0" and went from 150 to 240 over 7 years. Granted, he works out everyday and is almost pure muscle- its still shocking to me that someone can change that much.

LOL!!! Its sooo normal unless the wife cant cook!!! When me and my fiance moved in together, i was always cooking him things like steak and baked potatoes or something really fattening. He was like 175 when we moved in together and now hes like 240....i guess i shouldnt have fed him so much. I dont mind tho. I like him either way.
