I think a lot of Asians are book-smart (as in, they can get a good GPA and do decently on tests and stuff) but not really smart in many other ways. I don't personally know any Asians who can, say, write a poem that really has substance.
This is not to say they're all like that. Just a lot of them seem to be.
I'm 1/2 Japanese. Hopefully saying that will prevent people from thinking I'm racist in any way.

The explanation that Asian Americans simply "worked hard" for their success are challenged by the observation that the average IQ scores of the East Asian population living in the US and in Asia are similar, and both are 10 points higher than the average IQ scores of the White population living in Europe and the US, and in particular both demonstrate a similar profile of high visuospatial scores and above average verbal intelligence scores. Additionally IQ scores for the African American and Latino populations are lower than for the White population. Many scientists believe genetics play a role in the success of racial groups. Blacks score consistently much lower, which does not explain cultural factors. Also interesting to note is that whites who take natural sciences tests against Asian Americans often score lower regardless of academic history; similarly, a Black person often scores lower than a white person regardless of academic history.

I'm Asian too but not one race is superior than the other in all categories, all humans have the same capabilities. As everyone should know that stereotyping is not a valid claim i.e. Asians do better in school than Caucasians and African Americans do. We may have better methods or diciplines for studying but we are not smarter.

Yes. Most of the Asian people I come into contact with are first generation Chinese immigrants. They are very devoted to education and all hold degrees. They impart this to their children as well. However, that is not to say those who have been in America for several generations hold themselves to those standards. Some do some do not.
Recently, we are seeing an influx of immigrants from India. The same is true of them. Very education oriented.

This is a stereotype that mainly exists in America. Maybe it's because it's the other way around? I mean it is a fact that America's education system is deteriorating, so maybe this makes Asian immigrants, or any other immigrant for that matter, look smarter than those who grew up in America?
Just a thought.

I don't assume anything from "stereotypes"...
I know one REALLY brainy Asian guy.
I knew a REALLY stupid Asian guy too...
But I have known a LOT of really stupid people in general.
And a lot of really brainy people as well, regardless of their race...

No. I assume that most people will, Asians included, have an average IQ. The average number is dropping.
I fear that we will end up with a society similar to the movie 'Idiocracy'.
