Is wasting electricity a sign of prosperity? Does it symbolize I-don't-care attitude? Are you turned on by such people?

Oh my goodness! The questions here at Answers. lol

OK, sure, wasting electicity can be a sign that an individual has money to waste. A person who can afford to waste any resource that they have to pay for is rather well off. So, in that since, it can be a sign of affuance.

However, I honestly find those who waste precious resources a huge turn off. Even if somebody can *afford* to waste something, doesn't mean s/he should.

As the world becomes ever more crowded we use up ever more resources. Many of these resources are none replentishing, in that once they are gone, they are finished.

We suck up oil as fast as it can be produces as though it is a never ending supply down in the ground. We use water in areas of desert as though we lived in the Rain Forest, and this is simply immature and shortsighted.

So, the short answer is I am not a bit turned on by anyone who wastes electricity. I would find that person immature and irresponsible. I would not care how much income the individual has, because there are many more people in this world than the rich, and if the rich act selfishly simply because they have the money to pay for their waste, it still means what they waste is directly reducing the amount available to everyone else on the planet.

If this person wants to wreck his/her cars and then go buy more, as long as they don't hurt or kill anyone but themselves while behaving so irresponsibly on the roads, thats fine. Well, now that I think of it, our steel supplies will come to an end one day too. So, I take that back. Use any other example but something which needs replentishing from the earth. lol

Only those things which are completely replentishible should be considered fully disposible by anyone, including the wealthy. If we think about it carefully, exactly /what/ is totally replentishible? Clothing? Where does clothing come from except from sources here on earth? We should consider what would happen if our land was unable to support wool, or cotton, or the many other forms of materials clothing comes from, including man made items.

Once we use up all of our resources we won't have a planet which will still be livable. Some people believe that God will end our life here long before that occurs. Even if this is true, we still need to be responsible for how we treat the world we inhabit. Wasting our natural resources willy nilly is not responsible or mature. I don't care how wealthy you are.

I am not turned on by anyone who waste anything. Of course I am speaking personally, but I feel that all of us work too hard to have what we have to allow others to waste what we work so hard for. I do believe that some people have the attitude that water, electricity, gas, etc., will always be around and be plentiful which I don't think is the case at all.

It drives me bonkers! I walk around the house, constantly turning lights off behind my family members...because they sure act like we can afford it!

I don't know why people waste electricity that way, it's just plain stupidity in my book!

It doesn't matter if they waste electricity or not. I look for other qualities in people.
