Well it could be one of four probs,

First- your system is corrupted

Two- a virus in which try to start in safe mode and run a virus check, (HOPE YOUR VIRUS DEFS ARE UP TO DATE)

Three- a start up program is corrupted then start in safe mode- click run- type msconfig- go to start up tab, disable all, restart if starts then, it may be a program

if not-- Four--- Your harddrive has crashed.

hope this helps

Go to Windows Download Center, run the tegistry test/repair program offered there for free.
Do the usual virus/Spyware scans and hopefully all will be well.

Start it up, press F8 key until you see boot menu. Select Safe Mode. Login with that, then restart and try again.
