I'm gonna go ahead and guess that if you buy a new console, you'll probably never have that problem. And even if they do, you just send it in to get fixed for free. 360 over PS3 at this point in time.

Also, Gabriel's info is incorrect. 3 weeks at the most usually, not 3 months minimum.

Nope, they are trying to but its not fixed yet. Yous hould get a PS3. I've been deciding whether to get a Xbox 360 or Ps3 all this time and I finally chose a PS3. PS3 has so many better things like free wifi, blutetooth, blu-ray player and etc... The only thing is the games right now since Xbox 360 does have better games at the moment but this is the 360's 2nd generation games while ps3's is first generation games. Give it another year and im sure it will be worth ur money to buy. Killzone 2 and Haze will be graphically intense FPS that will rival Halo 3 so think about it.

I think they have the red ring problem under control.

I've had my console sent off and repaired 4 times. Two of those times were for the red rings. For your convenience, I will describe to you what happened the other 2 times...

1) My console wouldn't play DVD's without skipping & would not read most games (Problem fixed after 1 month long repair)

2) Red ring = console dead... Sent it off, it was returned 1 month later (Problem temporarily fixed)

3) CD tray wouldn't open/close... Sent it off (Problem fixed)

4) Red ring of death x 2... Sent it off (problem fixed after 1 month long repair)

I believe the red ring problem is caused by overheating of the motherboard. This last time, my console was returned & now operates much quieter. From what I hear, they now use a smaller processor which does not produce as much heat. The console I have now is perfect (so far). If you do get a 360, DO NOT BUY A USED CONSOLE! Buy it NEW!!! That way, you will most likely get one with an upgraded processor.

Also, it is good to know that Microsoft will repair the red ring problem regardless of your warranty status. Your warranty also renews itself if they replace your console.

Happy gaming!

NO, Microsoft has not fixed the Red Ring of Death problem. All you have to do is go to Youtube and type in "Xbox 360 Red Ring of Death" and you will get videos from so many frustrated Xbox 360 owners. Save yourself the frustration and agony and get a PS3, it will be the best choice you've ever made.

With so many hot games coming for the PS3, the PS3 is obviously the best choice.

Halo 3 isn't a good enough reason to get a Xbox 360. Killzone 2 and Haze will be the Halo killers anyways.

I bought my xbox360 2 months ago for $350 and I have had no problems with it since. There's also a long warranty incase it ever breaks. But honestly I think the ps3 will dominate the scene in a year or two because it is a better system with better features (wifi, blueray, etc).

Xbox360="Cheaper" Thrills than ps3
Ps3 = Ps3 games are not that great yet...

No, and no. xbox is worth the trouble because of its amazing games. ps3 won't break, but its just a crappy console with crappy games that doesn't break.

Buy your 360 from sams club, they'll replace it for free, no questions asked. I've been through 3 and each one took about 2 hours to replace. Not repair, completely replace.

I would STRONGLY recommend not getting a ps3 though. Go for xbox 360 or wii...

they haven't fixed it but i wouldn't get a ps3 either, the games out for it aren't that great, wait until next year or something. i'd still go and get the 360 though because it has great games out right now. plus, if you ever the rodd, you'll be covered with a 3 year warranty.
