There are a dozen things to do in Dallas. I am not sure about Fort Worth. There is the Dealey Plaza (where JFK was shot) where you can go to the Sixth Floor Museum and the Conspiracy Theory Museum. You can also shop a whole lot. Dallas has more shopping per capita than any other city in the United States. You can also go see shows and galleries and concerts. You can go to the arboretum. You could go to the Dallas World Aquarium, you could go to the zoo. You could see a Rangers/Mavericks/Cowboys game depending on the season. There are unlimited things to do. Merry Christmas and congratulations!

I not lived there in a long time.
This not a big every day thing, but, drive up to Las Colinas. I think it still have the world's largest Equestrian (Horses) Statue(s) in the world, really worth seeing. Then they did have a boat ride take you through all the awesome buildings. If, you ever watch "Walker Texas Ranger" one episode "Trivet" in a boat scene shot there.
Also, go to the water gardens downtown and see if you can walk down into the water fall, without falling in, you will know what I mean. ;-) If, you ever watched the movie "Logan's Run" this where he dives into the water to get back into the City.
Botanical Garden is nice too. May still look good.
Drive up toward Azle, there was a little Winery on the left, get a free sip of wine. Then on the Right there was a Buffalo Preserve and a lot of Prairie Dogs.
Well, maybe I am boring, but, later there always Billy Bob's. :-p

The art museums are really nice. I always take my friends there when they come into town. The ones in Dallas are worth the trip over too, the Nasher Sculpture Garden especially.

I would suggest they get involved in the community. Volunteering, joining a sports team or finding an interest group (gardening, politics, alumni group, etc.) is a great way to become part of a new city and make friends.

every Friday the local paper, Star Telegram, has an insert called Star Time. It has about 30 pages of bars, movies, festivals, zoos, groups, dining reviews, bands, movies (Rocky Horror every weekend).poetry readings, book signings, rodeos, sports. There isn't enough time to do everything around here.
