I found a tiny protist-like organism. It is made up of four tiny mircoscopic ball-shaped things that form a tiny square. What is it? It was around some scenedesmus. Serious answers only please. If you don't know, don't answer.

It was a bright green color. It was only visible on a microscope on medium power (400x). It didn't move at all. There was two of them that I found, identical to one another, but one was slightly bigger. I tried to look at it on high power, but my mircoscope lense bumped the slide and broke the cover slip. My science teacher couldn't identify it.

See if it looked like any of these:

Protococcus viridis: http://www.glerl.noaa.gov/seagrant/GLWL/Algae/Chlorophyta/Images/Protococcus.jpg is Protococcus viridis.

That's the best I can do with the description.

I can't tell you exactly what you might have been seeing since there are a lot of kinds of algae. What you saw might be a one celled type that was dividing or something that was colonial. Too bad you couldn't have gotten a photo of it.
