Ode to my beloved YAPpers
I was once a meandering soul
and home for me was nowhere
“Category-hopping” was my game
‘til the probing window to one’s soul
summoned me to this garden
that is paradise –
Oasis. Utopia.
Just where will you find
water so sweet
and a knight both of whom
adore a moonlight goddess divine…
Only here will you ever find
an adorable and loving “maldita”
and lips so luscious that will make
even Angelina Jolie jealous.
In YAP alone will you find
the “madrelific” she,
the intelligent “bopols,”
the very homework-conscious Trojan queen,
the soothing wind
and the huggable Santa Bear.
Where oh where but only in YAP
will you find people
who are willing to help
and can be your friends.
The very same people that will prove
that families are not biological
because in this world of differences,
YAPpers will bridge those differences
with understanding and acceptance.
In this world of hurts and pains,
they care...
And no matter how tiring or irritating
our days will be, these YAPpers
will also never fail to make us smile and laugh
With their wit and humor…
I thank you guys for being here
And I appreciate each one of you
for being the person that you are
Know that you matter to us
And that YAP will always be "HOME"
With all of you around.

You. In the beginning I was a lurker at YAP, fearing to stay since I had nothing of value to contribute, and was being taken aback by the constant bickering among different warring factions in this section. Then I realized that YAP was (is) actually a big playground where I could play and have a wonderful experience as long as I didn't take the game seriously. So I left the other sections (notably Math) and spent more time here.
I remember well the quintessential anti-Filipino poster boy, who had nothing positive to say about the Philippines, always focusing on the negative. I always welcome an opposing view, but the guy was obtrusive and lacked reverence. In his self-indulgent outlook, everyone was below him, and opinions of others were important to him only if they were the same as his. I have often wondered if he was born stupid, or if he had to undergo rigorous training to be. Although at times he would amuse me, in the end he was just a petulant misfit who would exhibit occasional flashes of brilliance when he was quiet.
The point of no return was reached when he launched a series of salacious tirades and accusations that was highlighted by this: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Anv92_my6cXT96CMnMGWLWLty6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20070628094114AA1dltk&show=7#profile-info-Kil7sZUSaa
After I responded to his demented remarks (in that post) I decided to stay at YAP.

Main reason is FILIPINOS.
My turning point was when I joined the Comics and Animation category. My best answers went from 32 to 97. I figured if I stayed there I'd be a top contributor but I failed.
My failure lead me to go to another section which was Media and Journalism. I change my name to "Alva Tross" before entering because I thought I am hated in the Philippines category. I grabbed about 9 best answers out of about 12. But days went by and all I see in that section are American issues so I left.
I tried going back here by asking some questions. After receiving a series of emails from Aref H4, I figured what the hell.
I'm definitely sure my point of no return is when I saw the Comics and Animation category and Aref H4.

Actually, was about to give up and leave feeling I don't belong hehehe but when i met (not personally of course) the ff, only my "homework" can interfere with my YAPping.
The intriguing eye of rodelette
The sometimes-a-little-bitchy- but-strong-charactered -english-perfect- super-striking kahlan
The rebel shirley g (her surname is grillanes actually)
The mind-reader super Inday!!!!!!!
The intellectual Bopols
The Papsy for all Seasons
Our Sweetie
The knight
The Angelic Audrey Hepburn look-alike Lyrrech
The bookworm batgurl
The cutiegurl Pao
Of course I want to know others as well, like
The generous star giver Anya
The cutie Cat noldzki
The jetsetting Felicity
The sexy kerengkeng and many more

Reason for hanging out here:
I get fed-up with my boardmates, so I look for a new apartment and rent it (Jan 07). I want to be alone, so that I could concentrate with my union jobs and with some activist stuffs. But, living alone was so boring... so I buy a comp and get it on line on April '07. Then, discovered Y!A last May. I answered lots of stuff in R&S, but atheist sucks and there were lots of them in there. Luckily, I found this place. The place that I knew where I fit in because I'am a Filipino and regular YAPpers as the new ones were seem kind, witty, wacky ..... and I want them to be called FRIENDS. So, here I am. hanging around ... for my friendly love is with you all.
Point of no return? .... as I said, my heart is with you all. That will make me difficult to leave this site.
Ang drama noh!!!! pero totoo yan hehe.

My "point of no return" came about when some of the regulars, notably Lushbabe (Felicity) and Binbini seemed to accept me. After that I vowed to stay at YAP and stay I did.

Maybe when I found outthat somehow YAP eased my homesickness a bit.
Point of no return was when I earned my first Best Answer and the time I had a verbal stand-off with Lushababes... we're friends now.

This virtual world is eating me slowly. I wouldn't let myself be sucked up to "the point of no return". Leaving my virtual friends is hard but I still have to face reality.
