I would support them and at the same time be very proud of them. Of course both are in their 30's and have successful careers so I don't think enlistment in the military is going to happen. I enlisted the same year I graduated from college and did 2 tours of Vietnam.

Scared, but I would support them.
If they are old enough to enlist, then they are old enough to know how to make decisions.
Besides, if they already enlisted then nothing could be done. I might as well stay as positive as possible.

If they talked to me about enlisting I would not try to dissuade them either. I would leave the decision up to them, and support whatever decision that they made.

But I would be lying if I said I wouldn't be worried.

Of course I'd fear for their safety but if thats what they wanted I'd support them 500%. I don't feel it is my position to tell them once they are 18 and out of school what they can and cannot do with their life. I trust them to be smart enough to figure to some degree what it is they want to do and they need to know that whether mom or dad may not like the choices they will stand behind them.

Any branch other than the Marines...he's got a butt kicking coming.

I would be proud as hell to stand at his boot camp graduation, and exchange salutes for the first time.

I would also thank him for carrying on a 4 generation tradition of our family that EVERYBODY serves, it's his duty to do so.

It would be a scary time. This war is killing our sons and we have forgotten the reason we are fighting. But if chooses to join the forces and fight for this country then he is already a hero to me. You should support his decision if he thinks this is the best thing for his life.

Scared but proud of them for defending us, even though they are not very supported right now.

I would tell them that I might not agree with their choice of Profession, but I respect their decision- and will support them in any way I could to help them attain their dreams... Afterall, it's the American Way... :)
