You will definately stand out. Its not that they dont like you, but that Japan is about 99% homogenous, so most have never seen a black person. Dont be suprised if a few of them want to touch your hair or rub your skin to see if the color comes off... they are mostly just curious...

The majority of the time they are going to like white better than black and in japan if you're any foreigner no matter what skin color you will not be allowed to go into certain places. I say you don't go there because you'd only be giving some people that don't like you money. Why would you do that? Yes not all japanese act that way but a bunch do. Just warning you ahead of time.

Im a Black girl of Korean descent and I actually have heard the same thing but not all Japanese feel that way. I have met some that do and some that dont.
Just go to Japan and learn some of the language. You will run in racists no matter where you go so just dont let it bother you. Japanese people used to give me weird looks when I go the festivals but I try no to let it bother me. Just show people what a great person you are.

The japanese don't like non-japanese. Anything else is pretty much redundant. If you want to go to Japan, then go to Japan. Just remember that you will be treated like all the rest of the tourists (badly).

Japanese people like people who conform to their culture, and being black would make one stand out, but they'd probably appreciate if you tried to learn a little of their language and customs.

I think its just curiosity. They dont get to see black people that often. Imagine seeing a person who had purple skin... wouldn't they stand out? Yes because we are not used to it...

They are not very fond of whites either, especially American whites. There are very few nations who like Americans

Some do some don't. I'm black. My aunt and uncle are black. They went to Japan for their honeymoon. They loved it. I say give it a go.

I would love to visit Japan. I think Japan is like anywhere else, there's some ignorant and some are not. Don't let rumors keep you from going.
