Those are the only two national airlines, but there are numerous regional carriers, such as Air North, operating in the country as well. The link below leads to a list of Canadian airlines, most of which are regional carriers.

There aren't enough people in Canada to support more than two Canadian Airlines. Just use an American airline to escape the cold and enjoy the gorgeous Florida weather.

Air Canada is having lots of difficulty from what I hear, and most of the US airlines are in bad shape financially as well, so perhaps running an airline is not such a profitable field.

Actually it is funny because the deregulation of the US airline system has had benefits but also some real problems.

Same reason they dont have a real army. American has said we will protect you no matter what. We have a treaty and free trade. You can use our airlines at no additional costs. Its not finacially feasible to have more then 2 because of our free trade agreements. Ours will move in.

Why does Canada only have two official languages... maybe they like to keep their people down with a lack of choices, sort of like the Democratic party here in the US, they would like to take away everyones right to choose for themselves and to tax us heavily for services that we do not want...
