you don't. DVD is not capable of holding hd video. you will need to get a HD or Blue ray DVD recorder. the cheapest way is to get a computer with the HD or blue ray DVD -R already installed.

You can always copy the files (.mpg or wmv) on a DVD (as data files), but only a PC could play them.

If you want the files to be played by an HD DVD or Blu Ray player you need HD DVD or or Blu Ray Writer and appropriate authoring software.
