I am sorry to hear that! I did not know that top meant the first in your field; I just thought it meant you have a high percentage of best answers....Does that mean that there is only one top contributor in every category? It is sort of a race? There should be another badge saying something like" extremely valuable contributor" or something.... After all you are not getting paid or anything? why should you continue? and most important how will the rest of us get the info we need if there not people like you around?

I have lost mine also (in several different categories), and I have no idea why; my Best Answers percentage was actually higher at the time than it had previously been. Evidently, the Yahoo programmers, for reasons unknown, chose to change the algorithm used to determine it. Since neither the previous nor the present algorithm have been publicized, the situation is a mystery.

When I switched from spending most of my time in Jokes and Riddles to Religion and Spirituality, I lost my top conmtributor status too.
Someone else just topped your contribution level, that's all.
Mine came and went for about a week before it was emoved altogether.
Hope to see you in the Top contributor's circle again one day.

You probably have less than a 10% best answer rating in the category you had earned the badge in.

they stole my badge from Polls and serveys because they realized that I wasm't answering a lot of questions in that department.

Because you don't have the top percentage in your section anymore. They're not permanent and you have to continuously keep cranking out good answers, or someone else will!

i really don't know. i always thought you got those badges to show people that you care about the subject that you choose. i didn't know they could take it away
