Garage sales, Goodwill, and Salvation Army have great clothes for children because children do not usually wear their clothes out. I have also seen some cute shoes for younger children.

For the older children, go to Walmart. The key to to buy a about 3 pairs of pants, and plenty of blouses or shirts that match, so that each looks like a whole new outfit.

Get one or two larger gifts, and fill the stocking with smaller wrapped gifts.

It should not be that hard. We had 5 children when I was married. I had no problems making it work. I just told the children that this is what I had for clothes and shoes, and I did not make my Christmas too extravagant.

If you are trying to buy designer clothes, you will definitely have serious problems. You need to also watch for the sales the day after Christmas.

Take your thousand dollars and write a list of what you think your kids will like. Then look for discounted items in bargain shops. I would also purchase one game that all of them could play and share as a group gift eg a trampoline or t-ball set.

Christmas isn't about how much you spend but the thought behind the gift. With your teens, try giving them money toward something they really like and during the year match them dollar for dollar eg buy the 16 year old an old set of car keys with a $100 bill taped to it.

Younger kids will enjoy a box filled up with crayons, paper, scissors, glue, card, old magazines. Or a box filled with dressup stuff.

Go alone to goodwill, and find almost like new clothing. For example, Dress pants are like 3.99 for adult size pants. You will need to search, but great buys can be found there.

If you have a all for a dollar store, you can get nice socks there, and candy, as well as brushes, combs, ect for stocking stuffers.

hope this helps.
Also, forgo going to tjmax, khols, penny's von mar ect. Go instead to wally world, and look for bargains.
