No, a better question would be, WHY was the universe created? And that question leads us to, are we really real? Or are we a mere memory or thought or fragment of some greater being's imagination? Are we controlled by some greater divine spirit? Or...is it just you? Is everyone around you an actor? Are you being watched with your every single move? Are they observing you? Are you living a normal life, or do you THINK you're living a normal life?

There are many questions in life, and how the universe was created is just one of them.

Speaking of which, what is the meaning of life? :)

Depending on your belief system, God, as revealed in scripture, created it as described. This is what people have told each other in many stories and legends.

But if you use Science and a telescope, and basic physics,
as well as modern cosmology you come up with a Big Bang
Theory that sounds like creation but its not. It's just a point in the past where the physical laws and materials that one can know had their beginnning 14 billion years ago.
Whether there is some knowledge base or state of being that
will let us see further back than that is hard to judge.
And, whether an objective God started everything and let it run, or babysat and designed everything at every stage of evolution is
academic, for what did he start, if we get it revealed more and more through science, where can you draw that line between the things of God and the things revealed?
And if science reveals more and more the complexity of nature, what is the point of going back to a God who designed it? Obviously, it is hard to find meaning in a universe where even the very protons will decay in time,
so having a fall-back position on a God-based creation and
purpose for life can be a comfort

Human nature makes it impossible to consider anything before the beginning. We can't wrap our minds around it. We also learn in science that energy can not be created from nothing. The laws of Physics need to be different for that to happen. That raises questions like so, where was God before He created the universe? Or, if you prefer, if there was nothing before the big bang, what caused the big bang? Was there a giant, formless ball of dust and carbon particles - and if so, where did that come from?

The real answer is that we don't know. Whether you believe God created the universe, or a big explosion created it, or some combination of the two - there is nothing we can point to and say "See, that proves it."

there are several points of view

The religious view it as being willfully made by a creator that goes by a variety of names depending on which religion. God, Allah, etc.

Science views it as an automatic process which requires no devine nor even human help

Science says all the mass and matter has always been here in one form or another.

Gravity collects this into a single object (sigularity) which compresses and compresses until the atoms fuse and then this singularity expands and becomes the building blocks of today's universe which after a period of time cools into stars and planets.

And after a time this turns into orignic material and planst and animals eventually form.

Neither view can be proven nor disproven

Both views are possible

But if you stop to think about things like TV, IPODs XBox 360 you start to see that a willfull creator of things has a greater potential

I mean Ipods don't grow on trees and never will

This is not to say the "perpetual motion" machine of the universe is also not a possiblity, just it requires far more time and relies heavily on gambling

Most people will tell you gambling is not a great thing

The scientific view is that after billions of year the Earth won at lotto and that is why we are here

The religious view is we were intentuflly put here for a reason

You have to decide which view you want to believe in the most, but you need to understand both views because taking tests in schools relies on the science view and getting along with religous people requires understianding the religious view

The scientific view, by the way, was first proposed by a Catholic Priest who was also a scientist

His view works both religiously and scientifically

See, science says it all happens accidentially

Relgion says it happens with willful intent and design

the process, however, can be the same

In religion God sort of presses a button to make it happen

In science it just happens automatically

In critical thinking you have to be open to both points of view for evidence for creation as well as randomism exists.

The minds games played over this are pointless

the randomsists (we're a lucky accident and scientific view) says you are spinnings your wheels and wasting time praising a creator that doesn't exist

but if we're an accident we're just spinning our wheels for we have no true or ultiamte purpose in life, there is no reason for us we are just a lucky accident

it just depends on how you want to spin you wheels

Wonderful question. Consider this:

EITHER you have to accept a first event, which, therefore cannot have a cause (or it wouldn't be the first event).

OR you have to assume that you can go back infinitely in time, and "first" has no meaning;

OR you have to rethink the nature of time itself.

None of these options is particularly intuitive, but you have to choose one.

If you choose “God”, then instead of “how was the universe created”, you have to ask “how was God created”, which is exactly the same question, just with “the universe” renamed as “God”.

the answer to this question that you will accept ,will have to come from within you over time just go along with whomever and whatever you have to and be open minded to all options ,till you have enough information to come to your own conclusions I personlly believe now that there is a god and that he created all things but there was a time when I did not.
