You can help the bruise go away. Dissolve 1/4c of 'epsom salts' (grocery store drug department or remedy section) in warm water. Add a tablespoon of 'witch hazel' (found in the same place).Saturate a washcloth or a paper towel with the solution and hold it on the bruise for about 1/2 hour. Your bruise will be gone in no time. Hint: Keep the mixture on hand in a tightly sealed glass container. Use it for bruises and sore muscles, an old remedy that works wonders.

Maybe you should put a piece of cheese on it? No, I know this isn't a laughing matter to you. I have honestly never had a black eye...but I've heard it can take 2 - 3 weeks, depending on how severe it is.
