Ok I had my last shot of Depo in Auguest of 2006. I started on it in May of 2005. I had some really bad compications from it after about 5 months, but was not taken off of it until Auguest when I had to force my doctors to take me off. They said that it was the depo causeing it, but as it turns out it was. Since April of this year my fiancee and I have had unprotected sex, and I have not gotten pregnant. Could the depo still be in my system or made me infertile? How long did it stay in your system? Did your period ever get back to normal? Any help you give me would be really help. Thank you.
Please only serious answers thank you

I am more mad that they told me from the begining of me being sick that it was NOT the depo. I didn't want to get off of it cause I like not haveing my period. Now I have to reajust to having it again. I guess I have to get that fertitly test. Thanks again to everone who has answered my question. I wish the best to everone who is also going though this as well. There should be a support group or something.

Depo is poison...at least to some of us women. I know it works well for some but not for me and obviously not for you either. I had two shots and suffered miserably for it. I have done a lot of surfing around on the web about this horrible drug and read that some people get pregnant right away and some it takes awhile and some never once they go off. It is avery difficult thing to predict. They will tell you that it is out of your system by now but it has altered my system. My periods are still not regular nor are they the same as they were. Make sure there is nothing else wrong that could be causing infertility but I wouldn't doubt this shot is the culprit. Google "problems with deprovera." You will have hours of reading about other people like you and I and will probably get as angry as I am about it. I am not currently trying to get pregnant but I will be within this year and I am petrified that it will be a problem...Good luck to you....

That's the odd thing about Depo...it works differently for everyone. Some women have horrible side effects from it, and some have no side effects, and even more have little side effects.
I was on it, off and on, for about a year at a time, over the course of several years. I absolutely LOVE Depo....except for the side effects.
For me, I lost my period immediately after the first show (YES!). And once I went off the shot, it took forever for my system to finally start to get back to normal. By that, I mean, my periods never returned, I would just spot occasionally. It took several months for my periods to come back (bummer), but once they did, they were very weak, pretty much like I was spotting. A pantyliner and I was good to go the rest of the day.
After about 6 months, my periods still weren't normal. Very light, and usually only appearing once a month or so. I think, overall, it took me around a year, maybe longer, for my period to come back completely, and be normal. In fact, I've been off now for 2 years, and I'm finally starting to get into a normal cycle, and I was only on the shot for a few months this last time around.
Are you infertile? I doubt it. I'm sure you still have some of the Depo in your system that doesn't want to let go. Just give it some time. If it really bothers you though, you could always go back and talk to your doctor and discuss your options. Good luck!

Yes it is a BIG possibilty its still in your system....im doing a Detox in less than 2wks to get depo out of my system and i also will be Completly changing my diet along w/exersize habits...because it was only 2 Shots your probally Not INFERTILE permanatly(but w/depo you Never Know!) but i still suggest talking to a dr.I plan on seeing a Naturopath if i dont see any changes in a Month after my Detox Program... ive been on Depo 18months(6 Shots) w/HORRIBLE Side effects i might add....And by the way im Not anti-dr or anything but a Dr Tends to tell u what will keep money in their pocket rather than Honesty so Do your own research.

Depo in my journey replace into undesirable! formerly your classes go thoroughly away, you would be wanting recognizing around your commonplace time of the month, for probaly the 1st 3 months. i don't think of you're pregnant, in spite of the incontrovertible fact that that's a competent concept to apply condoms until eventually the 2d or third month. examine the information featuring depo. you will income weight, lose your classes, and once you do settle directly to alter into pregnant that is going to take like 6 months to a twelve months to concieve. in my opinion I chosen the hoop. I not prefer delivery administration via well-being motives, which i think the dep. contributed to. i desire the coolest for you.

I'm sorry to hear about this problem of yours,.. sadly not the first time i heard of this, my friend been on the shot and when she stoppped she couldn't get pregnant, well more like she ended up having miscarage on top of miscarage. I had used it before also but once i got it, i was spotting for 4 months and got scared and never went back to get it redone.
I'd say go and get a second oppinion, or maybe even third. My doctor told me it was a bunch of BS because i asked her that also but she told me it wasn't true.
Anyway, I hope it all works out, and hope you get pregnant soon. And I'm really sorry to hear about that, wish you the best.
