Hi. I live in an apartment (In Ontario, Canada) that has no laundry and the landlord has said that it is ok to get washer and dryer. Have only heard bad things about dryers that just plug into a regular outlet so I am looking for another solution. There is a 220v plug for the stove, I don't think the wiring can handle another one (fuses) and I don't want the expense of having a separate plug run in . . . since I don't use the stove all the time, and the same will go for a dryer, is there any way to get this 220v plug to do double duty?

In the U.S. a dryer outlet and range outlet are both 220 but not the same kind of outlet.
The breaker supplying your stove is 40 amps or greater.
A breaker for a dryer needs to be a smaller 30 amp breaker.
I don't think you could do it without running another circuit.

Your biggest problem is the dryer's motor. Unless it's an unusual model, the motor is NOT designed to be run on 220v power, but on 110v. You can tell by the plug coming from the motor. If it looks like a standard 3 prong wall plug, then the motor is 110v. If it has a very large, heavy duty plug like your stove's, with three angled blades, then the dryer motor is likely to be 220v. and you can use the existing outlet.
Plugging a 110v motor into a 220v outlet will short it out.

You'd be better off to call an electrician to split off a 110v outlet for the dryer. I've owned dryers which plug into regular outlets for 30 years and never had troubles.

Sure. Plug each one in as you want to use it. You should only have one outlet so can only plug in one appliance at a time. But where are you going to vent the dryer? With no vent all that moisture indoors will not be very pleasent.
