Bruce Lee was doing dubbing work in Hong Kong on May 10, 1973, for Enter the Dragon at Golden Harvest studios. He collapsed in the bathroom and was rushed to Hong Kong Baptist Hospital. Doctors there that day who treated him said he almost died of cerebral edema.
The death was caused by an acute cerebral edema due to a reaction to compounds present in the prescription pain killing drug Equagesic.

Maybe it was a mixture of all the drugs that did him in. Besides the headache medicine, the autopsy showed that Bruce Lee had ingested marijuana, which he would eat or drink as tea to calm his nerves. He was also taking pain medicine for his back. Lee also was rumored to use diuretics to give him a more lean look. Diuretics alone can be deadly...do a google search.

We really are not certain. The stated cause of death is in conflict with the assumed cause of death, so we may never know
