Nancy Pelosi is siding with the EEOC on this. Is she an American?

Oh, and the Salvation Army Thrift Store has a sign stating learning English within a year. So, why can't they decide what THEY want to do? People who only can speak another language impedes on MY opportunities here in the USA also.

What are they after? To make is so no one can understand each other any longer?

No, they ARE! I am deadly serious that this is occurring right now as we speak!

Here, read this:

"To make matters worse, Nancy Pelosi and Congress' Hispanic
Caucus have teamed up to block an effort to put an end to
the EEOC's attacks on businesses that require English.

Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-TN) proposed a provision to the Commerce,
Justice, Science Appropriations Bill (HR 3093, S. 1745) that
would prevent the EEOC from such legal attacks. The full Senate
passed the bill--with the Alexander provision. The House also
greed to the amendment, but later withdrew support after the
Hispanic Caucus threatened to stonewall other House bills unless
the provision was removed. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi
agreed, saying the House will not vote on the bill until the
English language provision is terminated."

This story seems to be from May.

"EEOC sues Salvation Army over "English-only" policy
The federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has over the years been broadly hostile to employer policies requiring that employees speak English on the job, viewing such policies as improperly tending to screen out workers of protected national origin. Federal courts haven't always agreed with the agency's views on the question, however; in a 2003 case the Salvation Army, the venerable religious institution, was upheld in its right to fire a worker who'd refused to speak English when asked to do so by her boss. Now the EEOC has taken the Salvation Army back to court again, in a case where two clothes sorters at an Army facility in Framingham, Mass., outside Boston, lost their jobs after supervisors decided to start enforcing an existing speak-English policy. Bloggers (e.g. Never Yet Melted) have been noticing the story as a flashpoint in the assimilation/immigration wars, and Pittsburgh Tribune-Review has coverage. For more on legal attacks on "English-only" policies, see Overlawyered posts here and here. (& welcome Michelle Malkin readers)."

That is a good question, but one which will likely yield few accurate answers, if any. I will try my best to explain the chain of events as has been reported.

The Salvation Army fired two employees after they worked at one of there stores for a full year, yet failed to follow the rules they agreed to, which was to learn to speak moderately fluid English within one year. Both the employees and the Salvation Army have agreed that no attempt was made by the employees to learn to speak English. It is the ACLU who is suing the Salvation Army on behalf of the two employees.

With that said, I can assure you that the same people who support these immigrants would criticise you and I if we went to Mexico, got jobs, and failed to speak Spanish. They are a perfect example hypocrisy.

When will they meaning "liberals" ever let this "immigration mess end? First they are all for it and then against it and then little by little they try and sneak back into the i am for it category. They use the EEOC to do their little political dirty work for them so they "liberals" can appear to be blameless. Wasn't us it was the EEOC that did it not us. Bunch of wishy washy chicken little pansies if you are for it say you are for it! Dint hide behind the EEOC!! And now the Hispanic block in congress has threatened that they will withhold votes on other critical legislation if English first is passed into law!! Liberals are not politicians they are slimy sleazy weasel saboteurs.

How can you supervise your employee's if they do not speak English. I worked in a state of Florida office in Miami. I watched as Hispanic were hired on the custodial staff that spoke no English, and the supervisor were bilingual but spoke Spanish well but broken English at best. Even on the office personal we had a supervisor that was more comfortable in Spanish than English, so she would give information in Spanish to coworker on my level and then the coworker would relay the information. We had one Spanish speaker that would talk to her children on the phone in Spanish, when a coworker ask why she didn't address them in English, her reply was she didn't want the office to know her business. Being we were 5 Hispanics, 6 non Spanish whites and 4 blacks, it was clear that she only wanted the Spanish speakers to know her business

Sadly I do believe it. I heard about this too a short time ago. This country is developing into a real tower of babel.

For those who can't or don't want to believe this..

Believe it now?

I have no problem with people speaking their native language amongst themselves, but when people come to another country, they really need to learn that native language as well. My daughter is planning a trip to Germany this coming summer. She knows that the majority of Germans do know English, but she's making every effort to gain a working knowledge of German.

Wow Neenie and Michelle, good link. It is insanity and Pelozi is on something, I can tell by her eyes that she may have t drop out and retire soon. It not only is doing something to her serotonin, but also dopamine.

Sad tht they are trying to destroy the country, same thing happened to the airlines and thus a while later the 911 freaks waltzed right in. Go figure. Take care.

Can we protest this insanity and start an online petition to stop the harassment of this great organization that has been doing wonderful charitable work for years? Let me know, this is really getting sick and I feel like I have just entered the Twilight Zone!
