Hi there,

This is a good question.

There's only 2 ways to know for sure you ovulate... 1) chart your basal body temps or 2) get a progesterone level test on cycle day 21. Both of these will confirm that ovulation has, in fact, taken place. Checking your CM and OPK's will tell you that ovulation is approaching, but they don't tell you for sure it happened.

If you want to make sure you're ovulating I would say start charting your temps. Wait until you have 3 complete cycles under your belt before you make any assumptions. But after 3 cycles you will definitely see your own body's unique pattern. Charting will also help you to get to know your body better and increase your chances of getting pregnant sooner.

Fertility Friend is a really good site with free charting software.

Go to your doctors and get them to do a blood test and check your hormones. They will be able to tell if you ovulate by your progesterone levels. I dont ovulate and I have always had regular period right up until i skipped a month and then had the tests done. So i would suggest just going to your doc and getting it done then you will know for sure!!

Women who don't have periods or have extremely irregular periods can be pretty sure they aren't ovulating. Also, it would be wise to track your basal body temp--bbt--for a while to make sure you see a clear thermal shift which means you are ovulating. Go here for more info-- www.fertilityfriend.com

Women who aren't ovulating can still get EWCM.

You should try charting your basal temperature. They have special thermometers for that at Target for about $10.00. They even have a chart and instructions. It should give you an idea of when you are ovulating.

typically you ovulate 11 - 17 days after your period. they do sell ovulation predictors fairly cheap, they are around the same price as pregnancy tests.
