I was LET GO. I could not get unemployment. I have sent out over 200 resumes. I am really scared. I am an older lady in my 50.

I do not own my home and have no money. NOTHING! I about to pack up and live under a bridge. It just hurts me so bad because I worked so hard for so long. I have nothing!

There is no need to feel embarrassed.
You have to live even if its welfare.
Welfare is a temporary assistance
for money.
You will need to see a social worker
tell him or her
your situation
what you have been trying to do
they will want to get your employment history.
If you qualify you will get a certain amount for rent
food,
paying bills
If you needs exceed it will have to come out of your allowance.
If its just you they allow $1500 dollars before saying you are over the limit
if there are children and father $4500 dollars
Don't wait until you are right out of cash

How To Qualify For Welfare

it depends on if you have a family or not. my sister tried to get welfare and they denied her because she was single and without children. I have been on welfare before but I have two children and my husband makes under the limit allowed. You can always go down to the welfare office and ask, it won't hurt. But there are charities that can help with food and rent assist you just need to do the research. Also, I don't know what city you are in. Every city/state has their own requirements for welfare assistance. Just go down to the welfare office and find out. Better to know.

If you were not fired. I think if you weren't you may be due benefits from you employer. The Welfare asst. programs are different in many states. And there are programs in many city's that may help. Or try social security. they have ssi. Good Luck

If you have no income and no assets, you should qualify for emergency assistance, food stamps and the food pantry. You may also qualify for free medical care.

In the meantime, why not sign up at several temp agencies? I always used them as a gap between jobs after moving cross country and could find work in just one day.

Depends on if you got lots of money in the bank.

What gets me is that some people get "retraining" into another proffesion at taxpayer expense. I had to go into the military to get the money for college to train for what I do now.

So if you dont own a house and three beamers, you'd think there would be some way to get some help

good luck.

If you lost your job for no real cause I would suggest you apply for unemployment benefits before trying to get general assistance. but yes this should not be to hard.

The worst thing that can happen is that they will tell you NO.
