At work we are sponsoring a local family for Christmas. I volunteered to buy a present for each child. The girl is 9 yrs old and the boy is 11 years old. I do not know anything about these children & what they like so I need suggestions! What kind of reasonably priced gifts can I buy these children?! As others are buying gifts as well we were thinking about $20-2$5 per gift or an assortment that totals around that amount.

For a sponsored family, you may want to buy something that the kids would use and make them feel at home - they don't need a lot of toys or candy. A notebook that is "what all the kids at school want" or something like that which they wouldn't be able to afford on their own would be great!

If you could, you may want to spend the $$ buying clothing that is "fashionable" for their age - they probably don't have a lot of that.

Skateboard for the boy, and a A Special Theme type Barbie Doll or baby doll for the girl.

If you wanted to do a bit extra, you could fill a stocking with candy and fruit too.

Do you have "dollar" stores in your area? If so, go in and get an assortment of practical, fun, educational and just plain silly gifts. Practical - school supplies, personal items. Fun - of course - toys. Educational - books, dictionaries, etc. Silly - bubbles, silly string, etc. something that they can only get one use out of but have fun doing it.

Thank you for helping a family out. I shows that you have heart.

Children love to have their own Visa cards. At our local bank you can have them get any amount on this visa, and the kids think it is such a great idea and lets them explore how a credit card can work.
Happy Holidays to you and yours.......
