With the symptoms you mention, it sounds like teething especially the chewing and fussiness. Try some Tylenol at bedtime and every 4-6 hours during the day for the pain and fever. You all will sleep better. Give him things to chew on like a cold teething ring (put it in the refrigerator) or a popcicle. You might also buy some Ambesol or some kind of numbing medicine for teething babies. It helps too.

Ok, first of all teething can often be associated with cold like symptoms. However, a fever is NOT associated with teething. It sounds like your son has a cold, and since you mentioned he is 7 months old, provided he has no outstanding medical issues and is otherwise healthy, I would say give him the doctor recommended dose of infant Tylenol. This may help him sleep, as well as alleviate his discomfort. Also if he has a runny nose, you can get saline spray for his nose and suck the boogers out of his nose with a bulb syringe. My son is also seven months old, and he has two teeth now, so I totally understand what you are going through. Swaddling also might help. Keep trying, it can be difficult, but when they smile it makes it all worth it.

try to be calm, i know it is hard, the calmer you are, the calmer your baby will be. It is probably teething, or could be an ear infection, hard to tell as Dr said, without being seen. However if it is just too much for you to bear, take to e.r. if you can, ins wise. otherwise, call your dr's answering service and he will call you back. good luck
