I don't know enough to even ask this question (sorry) but have you ever tried to play any of the video games? X-Box, Play Station, and whatever is new out there? What game? What was your experience with it?
I played my nephews Terminator game when they were kids (a long time ago). It was kind of fun. I played very bad but I can see how it can be addicting for the young ones. As I played longer, I got better. Other adults had to pull me off. Never played since.

My brother first introduced "Zork" to us. I think that was what it was called. It was all typing. You had to tell the man what to do via typing instructions. Yes, a LONG time ago. I actually liked it too.

Wickwire...Atari was the first gaming console, with rather basic games--pong and alien invasion and such--ludicrously simple by today's standards. My husband insisted on buying the Atari in the early 80s when it was still $499 for the set. And each game cost over $50--expensive at even today's dollar. I used to play most of those games, and it was fun.
When my kids and husband graduated to the Nintendo 64 gaming system, I didn't make the change with them. I was working full time, and having to keep up the household as well. Plus, I was just never very interested on wasting my time playing games....I would rather read.
A few years ago the daughters (who have kept up their involvement with video games, and passed this addiction on to their own kids), set me up to play a basic game of Mario on the old 64 system. Anyone who has ever played this will tell you that it is "baby stuff" compared to the games out there now.
Well, I am ashamed to tell you (picture me hanging my head here) that I never managed to get Mario past that first hole in the landscape...each and every time he fell down into that hole and died. I finally gave up completely after I had killed him for about the eighth time, and no amount of coaching from the kids could help me keep him alive.
I have never picked up a game controller since.
The girls just pooled their resources and purchased a Nintendo WII system. It is to be the "big joint gift" for Christmas. I probably won't play this one either.

Yes Wick this Senior has played video games! I truly loved the older ones! I will admit that the graphics the new games have are wonderful... everything looks so real. They however, make me ill, and I mean very ill, I came very close to going into a seizure! I never believed all those warnings on the cover until then... so I stay away from the video games, darn it!

We used to play Atari when I was off shore in the oil field, that was many moons ago.
Then Nintendo
Now I have a play station and play Rampage, it's alot of fun. You can pick your character, usually I'm a gorilla and go around town stomping on buildings and destroying the city, eating people and stomping on cops. It's a pretty silly game and not really as violent as it sounds.

I was never very good, but I've played different ones through the years. I played the old Atari games my brother had as a kid. It had a steering wheel on it for the car races and a gun to shoot. When my daughter was young we went to the local arcade and played things like Frogger. Later she had Nintendo and I liked to play Mario Brothers, she was much better than I was.
My husband says our nephew has the new Nintendo Wii and some of the games. I've not tried it yet, but I think I'd like the one where you dance.

Oh. Wick now you are talking my language I would kill ti have the new WII. My favorite is Zelda. When a new one comes out I will sit for 6 hours at a time to beat it. I can't just win either I have to get every heart, poe and finish all the quest. Would you believe I bond with my grand kids playing. They love to watch and we talk about all different things. The youngest a boy is already thinking boys are better because when I can't do something he wants himself or his dad to do it because of course girls can't. Sure makes me laugh when I do it.
I also like most role playing but cartooish as in Donkey Kong, Mario. I don't like ones that are really realistic.

I played video games with my daughter when she was young and I've played lots of computer games with and without my grandaughter. One of my favourites was Battleship. I got to the end several times . My husband won't play because I always win. Now I mostly play mega-Majongg or spider solitaire. I've won on those too. I love to see the fireworks at the end.

The only video game that I have ever played in my life was Donkey Kong -- Atari. Played it many moons ago with my son when he was about 7 or 8 years old.
I was terrible at it. :(((

I started playing video games a long time ago, we had one of the first Atari's, later one of our foster children was given a Nintendo for Christmas, and we played that, it gave me a lot of time to spend with the children. this is the new type of male bonding.
last Christmas my son gave me a PSP, for Christmas, but I don't play it much, it just isn't the same without the kids.

My son is 11 and he has nintendo and playstation 2. He loves the driving games the best. I have played with him and it is fun but more so for him. He thinks he knows how to drive because he can on there. Lord help me when he gets his license. Some of his favorites are anything Nascar, Madden football, Grand theft auto. Some of them have language not suitable for little ones like your son.
