We are throwing a baby shower for one of our co-workers who's wife is pregnant. I want to actually give something that he really needs any ideas?

Do they know the gender and name? A personalized sign for the nursery is nice. They have beautiful ones here: http://www.mysweetandsour.com/

I just went to a shower and saw this gift that I thought was the cutest thing. Get a lined laundry basket and a blanket. Then get about twenty feet of plain rope. Buy baby clothes, and use clothes pins to pin them onto the rope. Then you put them into the laundry basket and cover it with the blanket. Remember onesies come in packages of three, socks, shoes, etc. are inexpensive. When the mom to be opens it, just find the end and keep having the guests pull it out. It's really cute.

i have a 4 week old & from my experience....diapers would be the best gift...i had 2 baby showers and i sent out about 50-60 thank you cards and i only got 2 packs of diapers, and one pack was a size 3. i've had to buy diapers more than anything so far. i even exchanged what i received duplicates of for diapers and i have still ended up buying them already. hope this helps

A basket filled with odds and ends, like a stuffed animal, bath items, and an outfit. Or a diaper bag filled with a pack of diapers and diaper creams and powder? Hope this helped.

If you are close to them and they trust you, I think that a voucher for babysitting would be nice. They probably won't use it right away, but they would probably enjoy a date night later when their baby is a little bit older. Or diapers are always good.

C&D batteries. If they have a swing or a bouncer that needs them, you will be a lifesaver.
