She said I would only find happiness when I let go.

What do you think she meant?

Well, since this is in the LGBT section, I'll take a stab in the dark. She knew you were gay and was gently telling you to come out and be proud of who you are. She sounds like a wonderful, loving, mother.

Take what she said and separate it into two statements. As a result, you will see that you can find happiness when u let go. Let go of your past. Whatever has happened to you, you need to move on. My mother died when I was 14, however, she did not share a cryptic message on her death bed. (Her death was sudden and random) I have kept a lot inside over the years because a lot of unhappy events followed her death. You can't expect to move ahead if you are hanging on to the past. Let go.

This is similar to a short story. The mother in that story meant that the child should never hold on too tightly to what others think of them. The mother meant that even though she was leaving physically she would be there spiritually and it was okay for her to let go.

Everyone could benefit from this advice. My favorite line from a movie is from Croupier where the main character continually says, "Hold on tightly, let go lightly." He meant that when you have something value it, when it's ready to go release it.

She was on her death bed...she was probably in a different state of mind. I think she was referring to herself. 10 year olds don't have secrets that need to be let go, but she probably did. It was at that moment, when she knew her secrets kept her from the happiness she longed for in her life.

Or maybe she was talking about your Dad. She saw him in you.

take care,

Holly

At 10 years of age I doubt you would have any kind of secrets that would block your way of life.
I did notice that your question came under "Cultures & Groups", Could it be that your Mother might have had a gift of sight and for saw what your future was going to be?
Maybe you need to come full term with your self or others.
Be your self and you will be happy and not having to hide what you feel from others.
I might be wrong...Am I? LOL

Find a person like John Edwards who can talk to spirits that are not with us. you might be able to ask and find out so you can rest easy. Just remember the answer may not be at all what you are thinking about. Good luck and let us know.

I think she meant that you are bottling in alot of things about yourself, (you have this image you want others to see you as) and in order to find true happiness in life, you have to let go of this, letting the real you out and not be afraid of unacceptance.

dint really know at age ten what kind of secrets you had but just for an example my sister was molested as a child and at the age of 34 she ended up acting out of character for a few months and no one knew what was wrong she never dealt with the incident so she ended up going to see a Dr who helped her talk about the molestation and how she felt. it helped her so maybe it's something that you have unconsciously blocked out of your head and you need to open up and look at your child hood and see just what happened up until the day your mother passed and talk to a Dr of clergy

Only you would know? But if honestly you don't feel
that you are hiding anything, I think she may be saying
that you have a lot of potential that no one knows about
at the age of 10 they haven't developed yet! Take it
as a compliment. Being gay wouldn't be a lot of secrets
that would be only one!
