There is no known malware "in the wild" that targets OS X. There are some "Proof of Concept" malware, but they are not a threat.

And, contrary to what others may say, the REAL reason is: OS X is BSD Unix under the hood.

Unix and Linux were designed from the ground up to be secure using: User Names, Passwords and file Permissions, Built-in firewall, and apps like TripWire, etc. *nix users know not to run as Administrator, ever, except to Administer their system.

Windows security is flawed by design. Until Microsoft designs it into the kernel, users will always be at risk. That's just the way it is.

So, Unix and Linux are virtually bullet-proof compared to Windows, and it is the single best reason to switch.

I use all 3 every day, but make my living repairing Windows.

Hmmm...

I've had a Mac on the web for about 9 years and have never run a virus program or gotten a virus. I get no pop-up windows and the Mail program is pretty good at weeding out spam. There are very few things that I can't open on my Mac and most of them probably shouldn't be opened anyway.

They are pretty much the same its just that since most people own a PC, people who make spyware and viruses target them so it will effect more computers.

Just get yourself a good security program.
