it may seem that way to someone brought up in a very dysfunctional household or to someone very insecure but in the long run it just helps them to avoid reality and the growth they experience once they see the true picture

Depends on how negative the negative attention is... If it's just minor...Well, what kind of a person are you? Do you like to be the spotlight? Or would you rather be in the crowd watching the person with the spotlight?

Depends on who it is and what type of negative attention your trying for. If you're trying to mess with somebody and they, in return, give you some sort of negative response that's what you were looking for. Then it could be better than if you got no response at all.

Negative attention only means they're acknowledging you..and you're doing a good job of getting on their nerves.

when the negative attention is to get someone to do something positive. good luck.
example - if you try to get your money back for something that didn't work and they didn't give it to you. you might need to get the news and such involved. for them the news is negative attention but you get what you wanted. thats the only case.
