Is it just me, or am I the only one who thinks the fair tax is an excellent way to not only lift the tax burden off the middle class' back, but also to restore honesty to the political system. Politicians give tax breaks to businesses in return for political contributions...eliminate that... and we finally have a system that is honest. Just as well, I would only be taxed on what I buy or use, Id even get to keep more of my own money! There are also many more benefits to it, like ELIMINATING THE IRS FOR GOOD!!! (which is far more harmful to America and the American people than GW Bush, Cheney, and all the LIBERALS in government put together!!)
Anyone else think this is a good idea?
If not... what is your objection to it?

You're on your own. I'm not rich so I'm against it. How can a system of taxation be fair when the rich and the poor have to pay the same prices for necessities that are taxed at 25%? I'm sure the rich will be all for it.

For example, let's say we both need to buy a car. Cars are a neccesity, so we all have to have one. (No there is not public transportation everywhere) If I am poor I have to somehow come up with an additional $5,000 to buy the $20,000 car. Should I rob the rich?

Should we encourage the rich to buy multiple jetliners to help pay off the nine trillion dollar National Debt?

People simply don't get it, the fair tax is a much better system. It's because it does not punish reinvestment into the economy and only punishes consumption (which is a huge problem today). This way we allow for more companies and small businesses to be started, thus creating more jobs and better paying jobs.

Still, it will be the rich who will still be paying higher taxes since, they're the ones buying: expensive mansions, expensive cars, expensive boats, and private airplanes.

I ABSOLUTELY DESPISE TRICKLE DOWN ECONOMICS, BUT I SUPPORT THE FAIR TAX, BECAUSE IT DOES NOT SIMPLY GIVE MONEY TO RICH, FOR CONSUMPTION.

it is a superb concept, yet sales tax on my own won't pay for each thing (at this factor). i might slowly flatten earnings tax to have a flat tax value on a similar time as slowly imposing the flat sales tax. the sorrowful element approximately it, is that libs does not be waiting to thieve from the prosperous for the period of tax season anymore.

I think it's the best thing that could happen to this country since the bill of rights!

Every negative comment is obviously from someone who knows nothing about the bill. Rich buy more things and pay more tax.

Everyone will get a PRE-bate check at the beginning of the month that will rebate 23% (the same as the tax) of the poverty level of a family your size helping the poor. (if the poverty line for your family is $30,000 you will get a check for $575 every month (23% of $30,000 is $6900 then divide by 12 for a monthly prebate of $575)

You will no longer pay Social Security or Medicare tax (these Payroll taxes are regressive) these will be funded by the Fair Tax. This will be a big help to the working class.

I gave away 20 fair tax books to friends and family and I only asked that they read them and pass them on to some one else.

I completely agree a fair tax is an awesome idea. Everyone will e taxed the same because it isn't based on income it is based on spending. Meaning a lot of the rich will be taxed more because they buy more. It also would be a steady source of incomefor the federal government since everyone who shops will be taxed including those who come in from overseas in order to shop.

No - you would pay MORE.
The income tax is progressive for a reason. It balances the regressive nature of a sales tax.
Sales taxes are progressive - they fall heaviest on people who have no money left over after living expenses - and least on people who have money to invest and save.

I don't know how you can possible think they the rich would pay more than they would with a progressive income tax. They do not spend all they earn - or even most.

I think there should be a flat rate tax.

Let's say 20 percent for Income, state and city tax.

The Government can decide how much of that 20% that state and cities will receive.

The Fair tax would be simple, flat, and fair. It would destroy alot of government beuaracracy. It is more conducive to trickle-down economics, which I am highly supportive of.
