I have a 2003 BMW 325i and am now living in Fredericton, New Brunswick. I had been getting everything serviced at the dealership in Halifax, N.S. but need to have a routine oil change done. Where is the best place that deals with BMWs in NB?

Looks like you're probably not the type who might consider doing it yourself.

No problem, any garage should be able to do it for you.

The only thing you need to worry about is they use the RIGHT oil, and put in the RIGHT amount (7 Quarts). Choose any oil listed here:

As for oil filters, the recommended ones are BMW, Mann or Bosch. You can order these fairly easily online. Order a box of 10 or so to save shipping costs. Mine costs $6 each (Bosch).

The other thing you need to do is to reset your service indicator lights. Since you are driving an E46 3 series, you can do it sitting on your driver's seat.

There is a reason why I would get this done by a BMW dealer, euro independent shop, or myself. Your oil pan is made out of alumium. If you let any idiot torque it down, he will strip that oil pan. After that, you would be looking at huge repair cost.

As a DIY mechanic I had to fix few BMWs with stripped oil pan. The part is usually around $400 brand new, and for some cars you would have to support the engine from the top and drop the sub-frame. For others cars, take the other approach and lift the engine up for 6 inches to slide the oil pan out. Dealer would charge $1300 for this service.
