I like this definition of freedom: "Freedom of one ends only when freedom of another starts."
If we go by this then the answer is no since you haven't step over others freedom.

Best Regards.

NO. And yes it is an infringement of your freedom.
The government should protect YOU from me, and vice versa.
Unfortunately, so many people have abused their right to freedom at the careless or even willful neglect of others, that we now have the nanny state, I can only hope that the pendulum will swing back some.

I think that any one should be able to use heroin if they chose. I also think that I should be able to blow that person away, no questions asked, if they break into my house looking for money to buy it.

When I was in tech school in Florida, several classmates received disciplinary measures for letting themselves get sunburned (bad enough that they couldn't work and after numerous warnings). The explanation everyone was told was that we're government property in the service, and those individuals had "damaged government property".

I can make allowances for a military environment that requires a special level of discipline and control. I cannot find any justification for a nation to take that attitude toward its civilian citizens. Citizens are not property of the government; it is only through their consent and support that there IS a government.

They're really not protecting you from yourself, since everyone has the natural born right to be stupid. (I'm not saying that YOU are stupid, but that everyone can, if they want to!) What they are trying to do, for the most part is protect others from you when you choose to do stupid things.

That's why the police arrest and jail a drunken driver. It gets him off the road, so that his bad choices can't affect me, and hopefully convinces him that drinking and driving is not a good thing.

Our leaders seem to have forgotten that laws are made to protect the innocent, and they are using them to "babysit" people.
