Character names are much more important than you are giving them credit for. Authors don't just pick names they like, they pick names that tell you something about the character. Professor "Umbridge," for example. (Umbrage) Every published author has a reason for every name in every book they have ever written.
Tegan can be a great name, though. It is Welsh, and means "beautiful." It would be ironic if she was ugly. It could add meaning if she was average but had a beautiful voice or something.
Basically, I would need to know about your character before I could help name them.
- I hope I helped.

Nymbler.com is a great site. It just spits out names.
Kayleigh for a girl (my sisters name Kay-lee). My mom was told it meant Irish princess.
Evander for a guy, I just like this name. EVANDER: Roman form of Greek Euandros, myth name of an Arcadian hero who fought in the Trojan war and founded a city in Italy where Rome was later built, meaning "good man."
A princess and a mythical Greek hero. They need a story written about them!

I've always been fond of names of actual things. You know, like 'Thorn' or 'Winter'. Another thing you could try would be taking an overused name, and tinkering with it a bit. See if you can make a new one.
Some links I would try:
http://rinkworks.com/namegen/
http://nine.frenchboys.net/index.php
http://www.seventhsanctum.com/
I know it's not a list of names, but I prefer to give to give the means. Hope it helps you!

If you go to Behind the Name, you will find thousands to choose from along with their meanings. I keep it bookmarked. For surnames, I prefer using the US Census Bureau list of most common surnames. You will find very unique names in both places.

Grab one of those baby name book and start pawing through it. It is hard to judge what kind of name you want without knowing anything of the character's personality and role in the story.
